6th Grade6th grade art classes worked with clay this week. They first learned the pinch technique to create clay owls. Then they used the coil building technique to create clay coil pots. On Friday and next week they will learn about the pueblo tradition of pottery and design patterns inspired by Southwest Native American traditional pottery patterns . Last week 6th grade students learned how to use the element of space in their artwork. They practiced the steps for drawing a room in perspective. They worked independently using the one point perspective technique to create their final room drawings. Click HERE to learn more about this project. This project is due Friday 5/13. 7th/8th GradeLast week 7th/8th grade 2D art students learned the basics of observational drawing. They used contour lines when drawing an object of their choice. Students practiced drawing their object over and over again. The purpose for this was to teach students that with practice comes improvement. And WOW did they improve! Object drawings are due tomorrow 5/13.
This week students continued to draw from observation but added the element of value in their work. They created mini pasta sculptures to draw and have practiced using shading to create value. Student will work on their Pasta Value Drawings until Tuesday of next week. Students have worked very hard the past two week and I am very proud of their efforts! |
