7th/8th Grade ArtThis week students worked on painting their clay fish. Due to so many cold days, I had to make up a fun project that would teach students the same techniques as my originally planned project but would take less time. So I came up with the Fishies project. I could not be more excited about the results! Each fish is unique and the students' creativity really shined through! This project is due by Tuesday 3/24. Be sure to ask your student about their fish! Next week is the last week of the quarter. All Late work will be due on Wednesday 3/25. Students Celtic Tile grades are now on PowerSchool . 6th Grade ArtStudents started weaving and finished glazing their coil pots this week. Students learned about the Pueblo pottery of the Southwest and glazed geometric patterns on their coil pots. I will fire their glazed pots next week. Also this week students learned the tabby weaving technique. Students will continue to weave through next week.
Students's clay owls were returned to them and their grades are on PowerSchool. 7th/8th Grade 3D7th and 8th Grade students finally began working with clay this week! Before students began working with clay they were required to sign a clay contract. This outlines responsible behavior and clay due dates. Click HERE to see the clay contract. Students used the slab rolling technique to create Celtic inspired tiles. All students met the wet due date. I will fire their tiles in the kiln next week. Students will glaze at the end of next week. Paper Mache action figures have been graded. Please check PowerSchool to see your students grade. I will return these on Monday after they are photographed. 6th Grade ArtThis week 6th grade students worked independently using the one point perspective technique to create their room drawings. Tuesday was the last in class work day. The final project is due Tuesday 3/10.
6th graders began the 3D portion of our class on Wednesday. They worked with clay and made clay owls. So far they have done a great job using clay safely and responsibly. Students will continue working with clay next week. |
