7th/8th Grade 2D7th/8th Graders finished their Big Drawing Unit on Monday. I am so proud of the hard work they put into this unit. Their gridded self portraits were due Friday. Please check PowerSchool to see if your student has turned in their project. This week we also began a cross curricular project with the Spanish classes. Students learned about the Mexican Day of the Dead celebration and used the Caleveras skull as inspiration when creating their art. Students used the relief printmaking process to create multiples of their artwork. For more on this unit click HERE. We will have a mini art show in the kiva on Thursday with the Spanish classes. 7th/8th Grade Art7th/8th Grade art students did a PHENOMENAL job on their Gridded Self Portraits this week! Students had a photo of themselves with a grid which they copied on to a larger grid. Their work is turning out fantastic! Their dedication to improving at their drawing skills has been inspiring! I am so proud of how much each student has improved! This project will be due Friday 10/24. Directions and reflections can be found HERE. 6th Grade Art6th Graders began the week by glazing their pueblo pottery. I returned students clay owls on Thursday so hopefully they brought those home to share with you! Students also began weaving this week. The learned how to create a loom as well as tabby and twill weaving techniques. 7th/8th 2D Art7th/8th grade students continued improving their drawing abilities this week as a part of our Big Drawing Unit. Students learned how to draw each individual facial feature. They practiced drawing using a grid. Students will begin their own Gridded SelF Potrait next week. Friday 10/17 will be the last in classwork day. 6th Grade Art6th Grade art class learned proper glazing techniques this week. They glazed their clay owls and pueblo pottery. Students also learned about the culture of Southwest Native Americans. Students' clay pieces will be fired next week. Below are 6th grades objectives.
