7th/8th Grade7th and 8th Grade 2D art students began learning about the Art of Dr. Seuss last week. Most people know Dr. Seuss as an author and illustrator but did you know he made art as well? Click HERE to see more art made by Theodore Geisel or as we know him Dr. Seuss. Students looked to his work for inspiration when creating landscape paintings. They learned how to create space in their artwork and watercolor techniques. This project is due Wednesday 11/4. Next Friday is the end of the 1st quarter. All late work is due next Wednesday 11/4. Below are 7th/8th grade's objectives and in progress artwork. Be sure to ask your student what they learned and made in art class this week! 6th Grade Art6th Grade art class learned proper glazing techniques last week. They glazed their clay owls and pueblo pottery. Their work has been fired in the kiln and their work will be returned by Friday. Grades have been entered in Powerschool.
Students began weaving this week. They learned how to create a loom as well as tabby and twill weaving techniques. This will be our last project as the quarter ends next Friday. Below are 6th grades objectives and clay owls. Be sure to ask your student what they learned and made in art class this week! 6th Grade ArtLast week 6th grade students worked independently using the one point perspective technique to create their room drawings. Students perspective room drawings are due today. Check Powerschool at the end of the day Monday to make sure your student turned in his/her work. 6th grade began the 3D portion of our class this week. They worked with clay and made clay owls and coil pots. They did a great job using clay safely and responsibly and their work project turned out great! Their work is firing in the kiln now and students will glaze their pottery next week. Students will have a clay quiz Friday next week. Click HERE for study guide. 7th/8th Grade 2D Art2D students began The Big Drawing Unit three weeks ago. They have been working very hard! They practiced drawing with the right side of their brain by drawing upside down. They began learning the basics of contour drawing and how to draw from observation. Students also worked on their Contour Object Drawing. This project was due Thursday and grades are entered in PowerSchool.
Students created a mini still life drawing made of pasta. They learned how to include value in their drawings by adding shadows, highlights and midtones. Click HERE to learn more about this project. The last day to work on this project will be Tuesday 10/20. The final due date will be Tuesday 10/20. I am so impressed with students' dedication to improve as artists! Every students has improved their drawing skills in just 3 short weeks! |
