6th Grade ArtThis week students began learning about the Elements of Art. This will be a main focus of the 2D portion of this class. They read a Scholastic Art article about the Elements of Art . On Thursday they began learning more about the elements of line and shape. Ask your student if they can name all 6 elements of art! Below is an example of the Illustrated Name Tag project. These projects are due Tuesday 11/24. 7th/8th Grade 3D Art7th/8th grade 3D art students began their sculpture unit this week. They created armatures in the shape of letters. Students also learned the paper mache technique. Students will work on this project in class until 12/4. The official due date will be 12/11. Click HERE to learn more about this project.

On Tuesday students began learning about the Pop Art Movement. They looked at the works of Andy Warhol, Wayne Theibaud, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Indiana. A focus was placed on Robert Indiana's Love sculpture. I read students a description of this sculpture and they did a drawing of what they visualized. It was fun to see how different each drawing was! This was followed by reading and short video about the artist. Friday, student will begin creating an armature for their paper mache letters .
