6th Grade ArtLast week students began learning about the Elements of Art. This will be a main focus of the 2D portion of this class. They read a Scholastic Art article about the Elements of Art . At the end of last week students began learning more about the elements of line and shape and used these elements to create a positive and negative collage. Click HERE to learn more about this project. This project is due Tuesday 2/23. Ask your student if they can name all 6 elements of art! Below is are a few examples of the Illustrated Name Tag project. These projects are hanging in the hall at MSE. Grades are entered on Powerschool. 7th/8th Grade 3D7th/8th 3D art students were VERY productive making their Paper Mache letters this week. Students used the paper mache technique to create their letter. Most students finished paper macheing and have started painting. Click HERE to learn more about this project. Tuesday will be the last day to on this project in class . Finished letter and reflections are due Tuesday 3/1.
Next week Wednesday students will begin working with clay. It is very important that students are present on days when we work with clay. 6th Grade Art
6th grade students were very creative making their Illustrated Name Tags this week. The last day to work on this project in class will be Monday 2/8. The official due date is 2/16. More info about this project can be found HERE.

On Tuesday students began learning about the Pop Art Movement. They looked at the works of Andy Warhol, Wayne Theibaud, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Indiana. A focus was placed on Robert Indiana's Love sculpture. I read students a description of this sculpture and they did a drawing of what they visualized. It was fun to see how different each drawing was! This was followed by reading and short video (below) about the artist.
