MSE Art blog is back! It's been quite a while since I have written a blog post. But this year has been so awesome so far I'm bringing it back! 7/8 2D Art7th/8th grade 2D art students have rocked this quarter! The main focus has been improving their drawing skills and boy have they improved! Students first learned about contour drawing and drawing from observation. They drew their hands, blocks and shoes. Next we added the element of value to our work and students drew still life drawings of real fruits and vegetables donated by Nino Salvagio's. These last few weeks, students have been learning to use the grid drawing technique. Since it is spooky season, this week students have been drawing bones using value and white charcoal pencils. I am so incredibly proud of students positive attitudes about drawing and their progress! Next week is our last week of 2D art and students will be creating watercolor paintings. 6th ARt6th grade students have dabbled in a little bit of everything this quarter. We started with an Illustrated Name Tag project where students illustrated each letter of their name to represent something about themselves. Next they learned about symmetry in art and created mandala watercolor paintings. Students learned the one-point perspective drawing technique to draw a room. These turned out really cool! We have since transitioned to making 3D art, students have created a clay owl or monster. We plan to finish a weaving project before then end of the quarter next week. We have had so much fun this quarter!
