The 7th/8th Graders are currently learning about Celtic Art. The students participated in a poll about Celtic Art and culture using their cell phones. I used a site called polleverywhere.com, where I posted questions and the students texted in their answers. I administered the poll before and after the students learned about Celtic Art and culture. The students seemed to like doing this and one student even said,"This is way better than using pen and paper!" What is more, the students improved their scores by 100% from the first poll to the second! The students are making clay tiles inspired by Celtic Art. The students have wowed me with their creativity! Every student's tile is so different. They did a great job integrating the Celtic style while with their own individual styles. Monday is the wet due date for this project. The clay Canopic Jars have been fired in the kiln. The students will be painting these next week. Friday 12/7 will be the last in class work day for this project. The final due date will be 12/14. Student must turn in their artwork along with a reflection for grading by this date. 6th Graders are learning to draw a room in perspective this week. This is one of our more challenging projects. The students motivation and perseverance has really impressed me. Also they have done a great job helping each other. This is a perfect example of what it means to, "Be the Rock" which is our school moto this year. I am so proud of them! They will continue working on this project through next week.
Students' positive/negative collage projects are due Tuesday 12/4. The directions and reflection can be found under the 6th Grade Assignment Tab.
